2019-04-29

Martin Buck, Chairman of the Board and co-CEO of ifm: "Team spirit and joint efforts for joint success – this has been ifm's recipe for success for years. Now you can see this principle in action on the race track."

The ifm group of companies has been supporting race driver Tim Zimmermann (22) since 2013, and will continue this partnership in the 2019 racing season. Over the years, the cooperation has grown very close and today, ifm is Zimmermann's biggest and most loyal partner. "I highly appreciate this long-term partnership. Without partners, athletes do not stand a chance – particularly race drivers," says Tim Zimmermann.

"ifm race driver" Tim Zimmermann first sat in a kart at the age of eight. At 21, he made his debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup and the Asian LMP3 series. In the years between, Tim Zimmermann experienced the ups and downs of a motorsport racer. He participated in the Kart World Championship, was the best young driver in the ADAC Formel Masters and took his first steps in touring car racing in the ADAC TCR Germany. His ambition and strength of will helped him to develop from a formula racing "rookie" into a race driver participating in the Porsche Carrera Cup.

"It is great to see how professional he has become and how he is growing more and more successful at an international level. It reminds me of the development of the ifm group of companies: from a small garage company to a globally successful company," says Martin Buck, Chairman of the Board and co-CEO of the ifm group of companies. From the beginning, it was clear that Tim Zimmermann wanted more than simply receive money. He did not want this partnership to be a one-way street. He returns the favour by shooting videos featuring ifm, giving talks to ifm employees, participating in race weekends with trainees and making his race simulator available on various occasions.

This year, the ifm group of companies celebrates its 50th anniversary. This is why the ifm race driver will have the number "50" on his race car in the Porsche Carrera Cup. "People at the races no longer talk about the "Black Falcon", but about the "ifm Porsche". This too makes me feel that we make a good team," says Tim Zimmermann.

"Maybe Tim will also experience his biggest success so far in this anniversary year," says Martin Buck with regard to the Carrera Cup, which also celebrates an anniversary in 2019, its 30th. A double success would perfectly suit this year's double anniversary."
