Behind the scenes of ifm’s production of 2D and 3D vision systems

A particular focus is on cameras, especially time-of-flight (ToF) cameras. These are used for object and obstacle detection, for autonomously driving robots as driver assistance systems for mobile machines, and for classic automation solutions. The production of the sensor systems is mostly manual or partially automated, which requires a lot of experience and intuition from our employees. The O3R is the latest product in ifm's 2D and 3D product families. At the heart of this ecosystem is a computing unit on which ifm algorithms and applications can run and to which customer applications can be connected. This allows ifm to offer customers applications such as the very powerful solutions for obstacle detection or pallet pocket detection.
