Rekordinstitut (German Institute for Records) to use ifm sensors
The drivers of the "Mazda Garage" team will have to master the ten curves of the Glacier Road at least 1,500 times within twelve hours.
Steep curves, roaring 115 HP and a record to celebrate a special birthday. The Mazda MX-5 turns 30 – and will soon become a vintage car. To celebrate this, the Mazda Garage team has come up with something special.
They will try to set a world record with their blazing red MX-5. The classic-to-be is to master 1,500 curves within twelve hours. “Even if this is the first record of this kind, the performance has to be extraordinary”, explains Olaf Kuchenbecker from the Rekordinstitut für Deutschland (German Institute for Records). He will officially recognise the record if everything goes to plan.

To be able to determine whether the 1,500 curves were actually passed, he will install sensors of type OA at the turning points. They will count how often the roadster has passed the curves. The 1.6 kilometres long Kaunertal Glacier Road in Kaunertal valley features ten curves per ascent/descent.
