ifm takes over start-up Sentinum

28/8/23

Part of the team of Sentinum GmbH, which has been part of the ifm group of companies since May, in front of the new company headquarters in Fürth.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of ifm group services gmbh, Sentinum GmbH has been part of the ifm group of companies since mid-May.

The start-up from Nuremberg develops and sells radio sensors that are mainly used for smart city and smart building applications. A typical example is a flood early warning system for which Sentinum supplies a radar sensor. In combination with the app of the cooperation partner Spekter, municipalities can detect floods at an early stage and warn residents.

In addition to the three founders, Sentinum currently consists of one permanent employee and eleven students. Last month, the company moved into the buildings of ifm solutions gmbh in Fürth. The young company will support pre-development there and test prototypes on the market. That is why Sentinum will continue to exist as a brand and thus be present in the smart city sector. To coordinate the integration into the ifm world and as an interface to the group, Dr Alexander Kahlig was sent to the management of Sentinum and actively supports the team there. “We can learn a lot from Sentium when it comes to wireless sensors in terms of energy consumption, battery operation, energy harvesting and different radio technologies," says Dr Kahlig: “We have already worked frequently with Sentinum on development projects in recent years and know the team very well. That’s why I’m sure that ifm will be able to implement the next steps in the development of radio sensors successfully.”
