LMC point level sensor: Installation guidelines

For best performance of the LMC family of sensors, please adhere to the following guidelines.

Should you need additional support, feel free to contact our service center at 888-704-0702 and speak to one of our applications engineers.

Mechanical mounting
The LMC family comes in three different mechanical mounting styles:  ½” NPT front mounting, G ½ BSPP front mounting and G ½ BSPP rear mounting.

½" NPT (left), G ½ BSPP front mount (center), G ½ BSPP rear mount (right)

Front mounted locations

Install front-mounted versions in threaded couplings on pipes or tanks. Avoid mounting in positions where product may not drain thoroughly and cause buildup. While the sensor may be tuned to ignore the buildup, there may be some products / installations where this is not possible. In the image below, avoid the locations labeled “1”.

Rear mounted options

Versions with the rear mounting thread offer mounting flexibility for deeper tanks and other special applications.  With the assembly of a length of pipe and accessories, you can create a submersible level sensor with the outstanding residue suppression of the LMC family.

1 = pipe, 2 = E43375 weldable fitting, 3 = cordset, 4 = gasket seal included with sensor, 5 = LMC4xxx

Installation from the top

1 = max tank level, 2 = min tank level, 3 = sensor/pipe assemblies

Installation from the side

Since the probe is installed further into the tank, very viscous residues can be suppressed.

Installation in tight spaces

Ensure a minimum distance of 15 mm from the sensor tip to other objects, such as pipe / tank walls, agitators, baffles, etc.
