R2D radar area sensor: robust detection even in poor visibility

The wide opening angle of 140° is suitable for monitoring large areas. The three-dimensional detection field can be adjusted horizontally and vertically, enabling optimum adaptation to the monitored surroundings. Thanks to the high distance resolution and an angular resolution of 10°, it is possible to detect multiple targets in the detection field with precision and output them as separate target reflections. In addition to the precise position coordinates, the reflected power and speed of each object are determined.

The “3D Distance” version of the R2D provides the x, y, z coordinates (point cloud), while the “3D Area” version outputs the tracked targets, with the individual points clustered into objects.

Monitoring of belt-loaders docking with aircraft
Radar sensors detect the parked plane as the belt-loader approaches. They signal the vehicle to slow down when the belt-loader enters a danger zone and stop it at a predetermined distance.

R2D product versions

Thanks to the wide range of interfaces and vibration tests, the sensor is suited for industrial applications such as monitoring industrial gates and barriers, as well as for obstacle detection and collision avoidance on mobile machines.

When using the CAN version of the sensor, you can select the Distance or Area function in the software. The CAN-J1939 message can be easily adjusted via the Vision Assistant. In contrast to the IO-Link version, which only offers one monitoring zone, up to four monitoring zones (ROIs) can be set up with the CAN version.
