SM Foodmag performance
The SM Foodmag electromagnetic flow meter is a reliable flow sensor with a ready-to-use accuracy of ±0.5 %. The corresponding accuracy ranges can be found in the calculator:
Examples of accuracy and reliability calculations
Most flow meters from ifm use a two-part accuracy calculation based on the measured flow rate (MW) and the final value of the measuring range (MEW). However, the SM Foodmag uses a speed offset instead of the final value of the measuring range. The accuracy of the SMF420, for example, is specified as follows:
± (0.5 % MW + 1.5 mm/s)
1.5 mm/s in a pipe with an internal diameter of 47 mm = 2602.4 mm3/s = 0.16 l/min
For MW = 500 l/min, accuracy = ± (0.005*500 + 0.16) = +/- 2.66 l/min
The calculation of the repeatability is not consistent over the entire flow measurement range of the device, but can be calculated for each measured value. For example, the repeatability of the SMF420 at 500 l/min (MW) is specified as follows:
± (0.1% MW)
Repeatability = +/- (0.001*500) = +/- 0.5 l/min
