3-axis IO-Link vibration sensor for smart condition monitoring
Gain valuable insights into the health of your machinery with the new VVB3 condition monitoring sensor. The VVB3 sensor continuously detects vibration in three axes and additionally measures the surface temperature of non-rotating components. From these values, the smart sensor determines the machine’s “vitals”.
With its wide frequency range of 5,600 Hz, the sensor can detect anomalies, wear, bearing damage, insufficient lubrication or cavitation reliably and early. This allows you to react before any serious damage and increased follow-up costs can occur. With VVB3, you invest in regular check-ups to keep your equipment running smoothly and ensure there are no underlying problems. Are you ready to unlock the power of predictive maintenance and monitor the fitness of your machinery?
The 3-axis MEMS technology provides mounting flexibility and precise measurements in all three directions – axial, vertical, and horizontal – with one single measurement position only.
The ultra robust stainless steel housing can withstand the harshest operating conditions. Thanks to the internal self-test function and an M12 connector, a damaged cable can be replaced at any time. This durable sensor is completely maintenance-free. Plus, the LED allows you to keep an eye on the device status at all times.
Optionally, you can make use of the integrated unbalance and bearing analysis feature, which is easy to use via IO-Link interface. Continuously measure different condition indicators to detect fatigue, friction, impacts, and surface temperature.
Thresholds can be conveniently set according to ISO 20816-3 based on the machine type and nominal power via PLC system commands or an IT system.
The VVB condition monitoring sensor has been designed as a complete monitoring solution integrated in one sensor.
Target applications include all rotating machines with continuous or partially continuous machine operation (rotational speed and power) and a drive shaft.
The sensor is typically used on electric motors, fans, pumps, geared motors, conveyor belts, vertical bearings, reduction gears, belt drives, HVAC, vacuum pumps, separators (gear-free) and other single-shaft machines, such as wood sawing machines.

The vibration sensor can be flexibly mounted thanks to three measurement axes, with a range of mounting accessories providing added flexibility. It should be noted that the use of mounting accessories may affect the measurement.
Where? Ideally, a sensor is placed near each bearing seat.
How? The sensor should be screwed into a solid housing material or mounted using suitable ifm mounting accessories:
