Edge-controlled vs. pulse-controlled

Especially in processes with short switching pulses, it is a challenge for a control system and its input modules to reliably detect every single switching pulse of a sensor. This is where the pulse stretcher comes in: Using the input configuration “edge-controlled”, every input pulse, no matter how short, is output as a switching signal with a defined duration.

If you need the functionality of a timer relay, you can use the input configuration “pulse-controlled”. The switching delay allows you to suppress short input pulses or delay the switching of the outputs. The switch-off delay keeps the outputs active for the defined duration.
M12 connection technology allows field mounting of the pulse stretcher between the sensor and the input module. The parameters are set on the device or via IO-Link.
