Plattform Industrie 4.0: working together for the digital transformation of production

The aim of Plattform Industrie 4.0 is to further develop the digital transformation of German industry. The platform is run by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in collaboration with other industry stakeholders.

The platform’s working groups focus on the challenges of the future in six key areas: standards and standardisation, research and technology, security of interconnected systems, legal framework, work structure, and digital business models. Strategies, specialist solutions and recommendations are developed to jointly shape the future of Industry 4.0.

A platform for the digital future in Germany

The future project Plattform Industrie 4.0 plays a major role in promoting digitalisation in Germany. The platform sees itself as part of a macro-social process that can only be successfully structured through shared exchange. To promote the development of smart factories in German industry, the platform offers various products and services:

• Pre-competitive concept development
• Supporting companies in implementing concepts
• Providing information, publications and demonstrators
• Participating in international standardisation processes and international discussions on the topic of Industry 4.0.

Plattform Industrie 4.0 is a comprehensive consortium for promotion and development of the digital industrial landscape in Germany and beyond.
