Simple device identification – In the device management, devices can now be connected using their host name instead of their IP address. This makes it much easier to identify devices on networks with dynamic IP addresses.

User access can be restricted to a part of the topology tree (e.g. a plant, a production line or a specific machine). Administrators can now easily define the visibility and thus the access to location elements and sibling nodes for user groups via drag & drop in the Navigator.

This means, for example, that all kinds of maintenance tasks can only be made available to the user groups responsible for them.

Such an authorisation concept also ensures that users only receive notifications (warnings and alarms) that are within their area of responsibility.

The names of the devices in the navigator now follow the logic that if a user-defined name is assigned, it is used in the navigator. If the user-defined name is not assigned, the configured name is displayed. If this is also not assigned, the ifm product name appears.

If the user-defined name is edited in the device management, it is also adapted in the navigator.

The SmartLimitWatcher has two new health indicators that make it easier to track a developing problem. These indicators evaluate both the monitoring quality and the alarm frequency.

A change in the monitoring quality indicator shows that the original condition at the time of monitoring no longer exists. This should be checked and the monitoring readjusted. The alarm frequency, on the other hand, indicates how many times the limit has been exceeded in a given period of time.

False alarms can be avoided with the new ticket response delay in the SmartLimitWatcher: it prevents immediate creation of a ticket. A ticket is only created if the process value exceeds the limit value x times in succession.
