Better planning, scheduling, and resource management in SAP

Release 25.0 introduces significant enhancements to production planning and control, improving efficiency, accuracy, and visibility in SAP S/4HANA. Newly developed Fiori apps support detailed graphical planning, real-time production confirmations, and production resource tracking.

Additionally, our AI-powered solution, Factory Optimization Excellence (FOX), has been expanded with a new Fiori overview page, making it easier to assess and refine optimization results.

Key features in Production Planning for Release 25.0

Expanded functionality in the Graphical Planning Board

The Graphical Planning Board has been enhanced with new features, allowing for more detailed production planning and resource management directly within the app.

New additions in Release 25.0:

  • Missing parts tracking: Identify shortages early to prevent production delays.
  • PRT visibility: View and resolve conflicts in tool usage.
  • Component management: Get a clearer overview of required materials.
  • Enhanced planning object control: Create and modify planning objects—including dummy orders, planning sequences, slots, blocks, and bundles—directly in the app.

Users can also access detailed requirement quantities, missing quantities, and PRT conflicts in a structured display.

New Fiori app: Confirmation Time Event in SAP Clean Core

The Confirmation Time Event Fiori app is a new version of the existing time event confirmation tool, designed to align with SAP Clean Core best practices. While the core functionality remains the same, this version ensures better compliance with SAP’s long-term framework for streamlined, future-proof solutions.

What this app offers:

  • Guided feedback entry: Ensures users enter production feedback in the correct sequence to maintain accurate records.
  • Step-by-step confirmation process: Operators are guided through starting, pausing, resuming, and stopping activities, reducing errors.
  • Improved Data Quality: Eliminates manual entry mistakes, enhancing reporting accuracy and process efficiency.

With this upgrade, users benefit from better production tracking, fewer errors, and seamless compliance with SAP’s Clean Core framework.

Production resources and tools (PRT) visualization

Screenshot: Visualisation of the production resources/tools used. On the left, details of the equipment, order, P-ID, operation, plant, work centre, location, processing status, open operation quantity, material and material description are displayed. On the right, you can find information on scheduling.

Managing Production Resources/Tools (PRT) in a tabular format can make it difficult to spot scheduling conflicts. To improve clarity, Release 25.0 introduces a graphical visualization feature that provides a clearer view of PRT utilization over time.

What this feature offers:

  • Visual conflict detection: Easily identify and resolve overlapping PRT assignments.
  • Real-time scheduling insights: View key details such as equipment, order status, work center, and location at a glance.
  • Integration with SCX for Manufacturing & ifm PRT administration: Access the visualization directly from production planning workflows.

Benefits:

Greater transparency

Quickly understand how production resources are allocated.

Fewer planning errors

Reduce scheduling conflicts before they impact production.

Faster scheduling adjustments

Minimize delays by optimizing tool usage.

More efficienct production planning

Ensure smooth operations with better resource coordination.

Real-time capacity utilization data in planning transactions

With Release 25.0, production planners can now display capacity utilization data from the SCX for Manufacturing dashboard directly within the planning transaction. This allows for a more dynamic and data-driven approach to production scheduling.

What this feature offers:

  • Dedicated dashboard container: Capacity utilization data is shown in a separate, configurable container within the planning board.
  • Customizable display: Users can predefine which dashboard areas to display based on their planning set.
  • Cross-work center visibility: See how scheduling decisions impact other work centers in real time.
  • Automatic updates: The dashboard refreshes with each new scheduling action, ensuring the data is always current.

Factory Optimization Excellence (FOX) dashboard overview

Factory Optimization Excellence (FOX) leverages AI-driven algorithms to generate optimized production plans. However, understanding AI-generated results can sometimes be complex. To improve clarity, Release 25.0 introduces a new Fiori overview page that presents key optimization metrics in a graphical format, making it easier for production planners to analyze, interpret, and refine AI-generated plans.

What this feature offers:

  • Graphical display of optimization results: View key figures in charts and diagrams for better analysis.
  • Improved transparency: Easily understand how the AI-generated plan was created and assess its effectiveness.
  • Actionable insights: Quickly identify opportunities for further optimization and adjustments.

With this new Fiori overview page, production teams can better assess AI-driven scheduling results, ensuring that optimization aligns with real-world operational needs.
